9 a.m to 3:30 p.m.
The Ohio Prescribed Fire Council held its third annual meeting at The Dawes Arboretum on Friday, September 28th.  Approximately 75 people attended from all over Ohio.  There were 10 sponsors who supported the meeting financially.  We had 7 speakers and 3 breakout sessions - see agenda HERE.  Morning snacks and lunch was provided by Susie's Bistro in Newark.  It was a great day to interact with others involved with prescribed fire and learn more about topics such as communications about prescribed fire, results of a long-term forest restoration study in SE Ohio, prescribed fire regulations, fire weather forecasts, and the Michigan Prescribed Fire Council. Download Agenda HERE.

2017 annual meeting REPORT

On Friday, September 22, 2017, the Ohio Prescribed Fire Council held its second Annual Meeting entitled "Fire as a Tool for Managing Ohio's Landscapes" at the Wegerzyn Gardens Metro Park in Dayton.  Approximately 70 people attended the meeting to hear 6 speakers and participate in an outdoor review of fire equipment by several agencies and organizations.  There were also several indoor displays by other partners.  The presentations by Dr. Ryan McEwan and Ben Jones were especially thought-provoking, providing us with interesting data and different approaches for using prescribed fire to manage forest communities.  We are especially grateful for the financial sponsors we had for this meeting which will help to continue to support the Council's upcoming activities.  See the below agenda and photos from the meeting.
